Discover the history and architecture of colonial Brazil on this 10-day journey through three of the country's most historic cities. Begin in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil's former capital, with a ride up Corcovado to Christ the Redeemer, a walking tour of Old Rio's colonial downtown, samba nights in Lapa, and a day trip to Petrópolis, the Imperial City of Emperor Pedro II. Then fly to Minas Gerais to explore Ouro Preto, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and gold-rush town known for its baroque churches, cobblestone streets, and mining heritage. End in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil's first capital and the center of Afro-Brazilian culture. Walk through Pelourinho's colorful colonial buildings, see the gold-leaf interior of São Francisco Church, enjoy Bahian cuisine and a folkloric show, and visit the colonial town of Cachoeira and a cacao plantation. This Brazil cultural tour combines UNESCO sites, imperial palaces, and living traditions for travelers who want more than beaches.

  1. Day 1 Welcome to the Marvelous City: Lapa Nights & Samba
Arrive in Rio de Janeiro and transfer to your hotel. Set between lush mountains and the Atlantic, Rio was Brazil's capital from 1763 to 1960 and remains a hub of art, fashion, and music. Its bays, beaches, and offshore islands show why locals call it the Marvelous City.
  2. Day 2 Christ the Redeemer & the Colonial Heart of Old Rio
Drive along the scenic Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon to the base of Corcovado. From there, a cog train climbs to the Christ the Redeemer statue, about 2,300 ft above sea level, where the panoramic views over Rio unfold. The tour continues past Rio's famous beaches.
  3. Day 3 Petrópolis: Brazil's Imperial City
